Year 6 DEALT Transition Day

We are writing to you regarding an exciting project to enhance your child’s transition to Year 7 and secondary education.

Deal Parochial, Hornbeam, Kingsdown & Ringwould, Sandown and The Downs are joining together for 2 additional transition days in Term 6. The pupils from each of these schools will be brought together at a host school to participate in some transition activities with pupils going to the same secondary schools.

During Term 6 the secondary schools always invite the new Year 7 pupils for a day at their schools in July. We are adding to this by organising one day before and one day after this to give all pupils the opportunity to make connections before the summer with their new year group peers from across our schools.

These days will be on: 23rd June and 7th July. Your child will go to the following schools for these days and undertake activities with staff from that school.

• Deal Parochial to host Dover Grammar School for boys and girls
• Sandown to host Sir Roger Manwoods
• Goodwin Academy to host Goodwin Academy
• Hornbeam to host Sandwich Technology School
• Kingsdown & Ringwould to host St Edmunds

The pupils will need to be dropped off and picked up from their ‘host’ school on these days and have a packed lunch with them. They will need to be in their school PE kits.

Staff from the secondary school have also been invited.
