Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed their time at Bowles Rock this term. Activities included skiing, rock climbing, archery, low ropes, orienteering, and pool rafting.

Year 6 - Trip to the St Nicholas Church 26th Mar 2024

Year 6 have enjoyed a full day of RE activities, The morning was spent in school investigating the Easter story, symbols and Christianity. Followed by an exciting afternoon at St Nicholas Church who organised a variety of craft activities which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Year R - Fire Service Visit 25th Mar 2024

Year R thoroughly enged a visit form the Fire Services. They were given a demonstration on using a water hose, explained how the fire service help the community and shown the protective clothing. Enjoyed by all.

Walmer Lifeboat and RNLI station - Year R 8th Mar 2024

Year R went to visit the RNLI station on Friday 8th March. Jenny and Nic, volunteers and part of the Lifeboat crew told us lots of information about how they keep people safe in the water. We saw the lifeboat and looked at what they have to wear.

World Book Day 2024 7th Mar 2024

All the children enjoyed World Book Day today. The costumes were fantastic. There was also a wooden spoon competition and a winner from each class was selected as well as a KS1 and KS2 overall winner.

Anti-Bullying Workshop 1st Feb 2024

The school welcomed Open View Education today to deliver a workshop around bullying awareness and kindness. Children in Years R, 1,2,3 & 4 watched a performance and the older classes took part in a workshop.

The coin trail was a huge success. The children made a trail in the hall measuring a whopping 57 metres in length! The coins were counted by Year 6 and we raised £430 for the school.

Year 6 were lucky enough to complete Restart a Heart training. They learned about healthy hearts and how to help in an emergency. They practised putting someone in the recovery position and how to do basic CPR.

The children were visited by volunteers from the RNLI and coastguard to learn about water safety and the incredible work carried out by these local volunteers. Every class had a workshop, special assembly and a chance to meet the crew and see some of the kit and equipment used.

Betteshanger - Year 6 14th Jun 2023

Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic day at Betteshanger Mining Museum. They got a private tour of the museum where they were able to dress up as miners, they handled mining artefacts, experienced what it would have been like in a mine lift cage and mine tunnel, thought about pride and unity by creating banners and travelled as a miner would have as they migrated to Deal. The highlight of the day was the talk from the 2 Jims who worked at Betteshanger Colliery.

Coronation Picnic 5th May 2023

A celebration picnic was enjoyed by all at Hornbeam Primary School to mark the King's Coronation. The children all made crowns to wear to the occasion and we were delighted to have the sun come out and join them. To add to the fun parent volunteers supported the school by creating the 'Head in the hole' artwork. This has helped the children create wonderful memories. A fabulous afternoon to be treasured.

Year 6 enjoyed a day in the woodland area to celebrate their topic all about Scott of the Antarctic. They rescued injured casualties, sent messages using semaphore flags, filtered dirty water into clean water and then ate a tasty stew that they had cooked the previous day.
